Most fun was Arthur Pita´s Death Defying Dances. Full of dark humour and fabulous music, it is an absolute delight.

In South, Toru Shimazaki draws on elements of aboriginal dance and music, giving them a contemporary sentiment, but never loses sight of their soul.

Six works by students alongside Self-Portrait by Hung Tsai-hsi and Hofesh Shechter’s powerful In Your Rooms. The dancing was top drawer
Absolutely and unashamedly classically-focused. Even the student choreography. The contemporary pieces were clearly classically underwritten too
Overall, the modern pieces showcased the dancers’ skill, technique and emotional engagement somewhat better than the classical ones.
An exciting evening for the English National Ballet School… back on track as a quality professional ballet school after a couple of difficult years.
